Admission Arrangements
Admission to Melbury Nursery
We admit children to nursery the term after they are three. Admission is sorted directly through the school. Please contact the school office for an application form. Visits to the nursery are welcomed. Please ring to book an appointment.
Children need to be potty trained before they start school nursery unless they have specific identified Special Needs. One of the foundation staff will contact you when a place is available and come and meet you and your child/children on a home visit. If you know that your child has specific needs it is important that you let staff know in advance so that the correct support can be put in place before they start. Your child will be offered some visits into nursery before they start which you as a parent are welcome to attend.
Good attendance in nursery is encouraged even though your child is not statutory school age. We have a waiting list for nursery therefore if attendance falls below an acceptable level without good medical reason or agreed extenuating circumstances the nursery place could be taken away and given to another child.
Our criteria for entry into nursery follows the same principles as LA policy for school admissions:
- in catchment with a sibling in school
- out of catchment with a sibling in school
- in catchment with no sibling
- out of catchment and no sibling
Full Time Places (30 hours) will only be offered if you meet the Government eligibility criteria. Please see link below to check your eligibility
